To Cleveland and beyond
Hey all,
Thought I would record a few events and reflections on this trip. It is a strange collection of locations - starting in Cleveland, which might just have a basketball game worth watching on Monday night; then on to Pakistan, where we still don't with whom we will meet; next Wales, to talk about Postmodern church planting; and finally Bulgaria, connecting with Lamar and Pat Myers.
Whew, I get tired just thinking about all. But I am excited also. I never thought I would visit a country like Pakistan once, and now to go back connecting with friends and maybe even the Chairman of the Senate Mohammedmian Soomro. That would be a thrill.
Then on to two new countries. Both Wales and Bulgaria offer wonderful possibilities to expand my worldview. Eastern Mennonite Missions' work in Pontypridd Wales is focused on postmodern people and new ideas in 'church'. I look forward to discovering what the Werts are doing there. (It seems to be the home of Tom Jones also, for those who still remember who he is)
Bulgaria is country I know little about - just north of Greece and south of the Ukraine. Is it mediterranean or slavic? Not sure. Sofia is reportedly beautiful but we may not see much of it. We will be spending our time in Kardjali which is just north of the Grecian border. We will be visiting Lamar and Pat Myers. They are working with some new churches, particularly focused within the Bulgarian artists' community. Lamar worked at EMM main office up until last November, and it will be good to connect with him again.
And then home!
